orlenaOn The Go With O

Orlena says:

Looking good and feeling great is possible even if you have serious time constraints. Just remember that even though you may have time constraints, your nutritional habits do not have to be restricted. We are all familiar with popular nutritional questions such as: “To carb or not to carb?” My philosophy on such questions has always been: do what feels right for your body and that keeps you energized. We are fine crafted machines that instinctively know what works for us and what does not. While the amount of health books, diet trends, and nutritional advice available seems limitless, much of it only confuses and frustrates us. My goal is to provide you with healthy food choices that are easy to make and are good on the go. I hope you find some that you like!!

Cottage Cheese Fruit Salad

Being on the go often means that you have very little time to eat a full meal. This quick recipe for a snack that you can prepare the night before provides lots of food energy and can be conveniently stored in a container.

1 Cup of Low Fat Cottage Cheese
1 Apple Cored and chopped
1 teaspoon of raisins
1/2 cup pineapple, chopped
4 teaspoons of almonds, chopped

Spices: Cinnamon and nutmeg
For some sweetness, I like to add some honey.

It's always best to stick to fresh fruits but, if you need to cut corners, remember that there are plenty of frozen and canned fruits available (look for those that are packed in fruits juices rather than syrup). While many frozen and canned fruits retain and even gain in nutritional value, some do lose freshness the canning process. Still, frozen and canned fruits can provide variety that will keep your snacks interesting, so do consider them as an alternative.

All the best to you on you road to health and happiness!!
